Goals and plans
The goal is to get and stay fit, to allow me to be active part of my son’s life for as long as possible. You see, he was born on October 24, 2006 and I turn fourty on January 11, 2007 and have a family history of heart problems. My plan is to motivate my running by setting the goal to run a marathon a year until Schroeder can run one with me. Perhaps I will try and run until he has a son to run one for.
I began running back in Cary as an attempt to lose weight. Then I ran in the 5th ANNUAL TURKEY TROT 5K and found out that I really wasn’t in that good of shape. I continued to run some, but quit completely by the time I moved to Nashville in 2004. My eating habits had stayed good enough for me to not gain much weight, but the climb was there. More important though, my stamina flagged and my sleep patterns changed back to the no exercising crash.
Once we moved to Charlotte I began to exercise some, but it wasn’t until Bo moved to town that I began exercising on a fairly regular basis. Even then though, I would sometimes let weeks pass without doing anything at all. Then Heather signed me up to run in a 5k (the 11th annual Hopebuilders 5k) and things changed. I began to train for the race. I had a time goal and something to work towards.
